WASHINGTON, DC – Speaker Mike Johnson has announced his political staff as he works to grow the House Republican majority in 2024:
Billy Constangy will serve as Executive Director. Constangy most recently served as the Leadership Chief of Staff to Representative Richard Hudson (R-NC), Chairman of the NRCC. Constangy previously served as Hudson’s personal office Chief of Staff, District Director, and as an aide to North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory (R-NC) and former Congresswoman Sue Myrick (R-NC).
Sam Spencer will serve as Political Director. Spencer most recently served as political director to Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA). Previously, Spencer worked for the NRCC as the Western Regional Political Director in the 2022 election cycle and as the California State Director during the 2020 cycle. Over the last two election cycles, Spencer helped flip multiple seats from Democratic to Republican, including five in California. Prior to the NRCC, Sam served as a Chief of Staff in the California State legislature.
Hunter Mullis will serve as Director of Operations. Mullis was previously Vice President of Operations at Convergence Media where she led cross-functional teams for political campaigns and corporate clients. Prior to Convergence, Hunter was a legislative assistant to State Rep. Jason Saine (NC).
Chase Davis will serve as Political Assistant. Most recently, Davis was Operations Coordinator in the Speaker’s office. Before that, Davis served in Speaker McCarthy’s personal office, the NRCC, Youngkin for Governor, and Faulconer for Governor.
Katie Delzell Haulsee will serve as National Fundraising Advisor. She is the founder and CEO of Beacon Consulting, specializing in national fundraising, strategic planning, and donor advising. Prior to founding Beacon, she served as Director of Development at the Congressional Leadership Fund and then as Finance Director for then-Whip Steve Scalise.
Coleman Covington will serve as Finance Director for external affairs. Covington most recently worked at the Congressional Leadership Fund and served as Deputy Finance Director for the NRCC in the last election cycle. Additionally, Covington is an alumnus of Senator Deb Fischer (R-NE), Representative John Shimkus (R-IL), and Governor Bruce Rauner (R-IL).
Amelia Hawkins will serve as Finance Director for major donors. Hawkins most recently was Finance Director for Mike Pence for President. A native of Atlanta, GA, she previously served as Director of Executive Operations, Deputy Campaign Manager, and Executive Director of the Georgians First Leadership Committee for Governor Brian Kemp (R-GA).
Sarah Grace Prestwood will serve as Finance Coordinator. Prestwood is a native of Shreveport, LA and previously served as finance coordinator for Speaker Kevin McCarthy. Prior to that, Prestwood worked on the campaign trail for Senator JD Vance and General Don Bolduc.
Jordan Bell will serve as Deputy Director of Operations. Most recently, Bell worked at Direct Persuasion, overseeing multiple nationwide digital fundraising and advertising efforts. Prior to that, Bell was a member of the political team at America First Action Super PAC.
Greg Steele will serve as Communications Director. Steele was previously communications director for Reps. Richard Hudson (R-NC) and Ron Estes (R-KS), as well as a special assistant to Governor Pat McCrory (R-NC). In addition to serving as the Speaker’s Political Communications Director, Steele will also continue in his current role as national Director of Media Affairs for the NRCC.
